Gorgeous display, easy…

This is my first time setting up a 65in TV, so it was a bit bulkier than I'm used to and harder to get into place, but this is helped by the innovative separation of a lot of the electronics and cable ports into a separate box. This connects to the screen via a choice of two lengths of cables, so can be placed about a metre below the TV, putting the power/input cable tangle out of sight, behind what looks like a cable or satellite box. The stand is quickly attached to the screen panel. This two-part approach makes for an simple but elegant look.
On connecting the TV up, I logged into my existing Samsung account and after checking for a firmware update, I was into the main screen. Whenever I've attached a source such as a cable or satellite set-top box or a game console, the TV has identified the device, and it appears on the home page, so no more cycling through HDMI1, HDMI2... until you find the right source. The two remote controls are interesting here - one standard Samsung control, and one small simpler one designed just for power on/off, navigating the home page and changing volume and channel. This is very cool, charged by a solar cell on the back, easy to use and a great alternative. I haven't used the bigger remote control since set up.
Onto the screen itself, it's fantastic. There's an option to adjust brightness based on ambient light, and that seems to work well. It's absolutely bright enough in the day time, and really shines in the evening when the pure OLED black makes the images pop. As a gaming display, the 60Hz refresh rate gives a lovely smooth feel. As a PC display the crisp high-resolution pixels and high dynamic range gives a very clear display. Watching TV programmes and movies on this is very immersive, with the range of brightness and depth of darkness making it seem more like a window than a screen. The perfect black is particularly useful when watching movies or shows filmed with non 16:9 letterbox borders, as in the evening you no longer have grey areas around the picture distracting you; you just don't see those areas.
Overall, it's a great TV, easy to use, an awesome picture and lots of innovations that make the viewing experience so much more pleasurable.
